Meant To BeEvery family has a wild one
well, that's you (isn't it?)
the crazy one
the sparkly one
Oh yes, that's you, darling
the baby of the family
so what you want, you get (right?)
well, not this time, darling
'cause you can't have him
he'll never be yours
the one with lightning in his eyes
and wind in his hair
but he's someone else's prince
(always remember that, darling)
and she's your cousin
the prettyprettypretty one
And she's red to you pink
cherry to your strawberry
fire to your rainbow
& he's lightning
(and lightning starts fires, darling)
and they're perfect together
After all, it's not like he's anything like you
he's the quiet one
while you were always loud
he's the brave Gryffindor
while you're the clever Ravenclaw
But didn't someone say "opposites attract"?
They were smart
'cause they were right
And when fire and lightning fight
storm-boy comes to you
so you get your happy ending after all
all's well that ends w
The middle child
By your beautiful older sister
And your charming younger brother
Even by your parents
The beautiful witch and the wizard who's a hero
(and bears the scars to prove it)
You're just star girl
And no one will ever care
He's a twin
(so he knows what it's like to share the spotlight)
& he has to live up to expectations too
Of his loony mother
And his brilliant father
(but it doesn't seem to bother him)
And everyone says you're perfect together
And you are
The picture perfect quiet couple
And then he's storm-boy
The boy with lightning in his eyes
And if anyone knows anything about expectations,
You feel free with him
No expectations at all
But he's got a happily- ever- after too...
Because she's flower-girl
(just like her mother)
(just like her father
Fractured FairytalesOnce upon a time
There was a girl
(that's you, darling)
and there was a boy
(there always is, isn't there)
you're pretty, and you know it
(and you're Lucy, so pretty's all you've got)
but for some reason
he chose you
&& you were w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l together
but perfect doesn't last long
(didn't you learn from RoseScorpius, darling?)
and, as it turns out
pretty was all you had
Not like her
she's pretty, too
but she's also funny charming smart
and just Lily
and darling, you just can't compete
So you're not really surprised when he tells you
"Luce, it's just not working out"
because he's right
and he never really loved you
(who cares if you loved him?)
So now instead of LucyLysander
Just remember, darling
that not all fairytales have a happy ending
if she's Juliet
and he's her Romeo
then that makes you Rosaline
and nobody cares about her
What's done is done, lover-girl
this story's over
the book is close
AlwaysYou never had much luck with boys, did you, Lily- flower?
Well, that's what comes from being the youngest
All the older girls got the guys
and you were left with a broken heart
The first one
He was always so sweet
And you loved him (or, at least, you thought you did)
Bu turquoise clashes with strawberry
it looks better with white- blond
he never loved you, darling
it was always Teddy&Victoire
Then the next one
you never had a chance
you may be pretty, darling
but he's in love with your cousin
&& she's beautiful
he's already got a flower, darling
it was always Scorpius&Rose
The third one
well, you were close with this one
but Roxanne was always better than you
and he was too old anyway (who cares?)
but that didn't stop your heart from breaking again
when you found out
it was always Roxanne&Lorcan
And then the last one
Just when you thought you would never love again
he glided into your heart
and glued it back together
and he's so caring thoughtful sweet
StarFlowerFlowers are pretty, aren't they?
Bu you don't really like them, do you?
Sure, they're pretty
But they're not beautiful
Everyone likes them
And they expect you to
But you don't
For example, there are roses
sososo cliché (just the sorta thing you hate)
that deep dark red, so pretty
those smooth, soft petals, so soft
but roses have thorns
(and who likes thorns?)
Then, there are lilies
They're pretty, too
That strawberry pink shade
And they don't have thorns
But flowers die so quickly
You've just started to enjoy them
when they fade
don't be so picky, boy
if you don't like roses or lilies
what do you like?
You don't like flowers at all?
Oh, I understand
You like stars
That makes sense
After all, you're named after them
Stars are distant, but still visible
and when you take the time to look at them
sparkling, glittering, wonderful
just like her
(of yes, there's a girl. there's a
That HufflepuffPoor, poor boy
You never get the girl, do you?
Surrounded by your dashing cousins
Loud, silly, attractive, likeable, funny
And the little Hufflepuff
well, who cares about him?
Certainly not her!
She's the bold one
The first Gryffindor in her family for centuries
Her hair is fire-red
And you think she's beautiful, don't you,
But she'll never go for you (right?)
But then the impossible happens
And she shows up at your door
Tears p o u r i n g down her face
Slowly, the story comes out
How she ran away from home
And she doesn't know what to do
& she's sobbing
And you're holding her
(which is terrifying for you, little Hufflepuff)
and then she's kissing you
And, you know?
Being in Hufflepuff doesn't really bother you anymore.
Happily Ever AfterThey say happily- ever- after
Only happens in fairy tales
But they're wrong
Because their story has one
He's curious, thoughtful, turquoise
She's curious, sweet, white- blond
&& they were best friends forever
He has a lot of friends
And even a few girlfriends
(she's not jealous! She's not!)
But he's only turquoise with her
And then on the last day of summer
They're sitting together under that big tree
Recalling happy times
In that way
That only old friends can do
He turns to look at her
And her breath catches in her throat
'cause through all the years she's known him,
he's never seen that look in his eyes before
But when he kisses her
She knows what that look meant
They say happily- ever- after
Only happens in fairy tales
But they're wrong
Because that's how their story ends
SomedayHappy endings are funny things,
aren't they, darling
they're this mysterious secret
the secret of why everyone can seem to get one
everyone, that is, but you
The first romance
the old cliché
fall in love
no one was really surprised
the happy endings came pouring in
next was (to everyone's surprise)
Then her cousin (and biggest rival) with
the first Potter boy
with his sweet girlfriend
Next up, the other twin
with Percy's oldest girl
But the romances weren't over yet
there was still the last Potter
And the Nott girl (gasp)
Rose's brother and his mystery girl
the French pair
and then, because good things come in threes
(and your brother was never one to be left out of the action)
You thought you had a happy ending, too
You thought it was
Hope for the HopelessLife is good
You've graduated from Hogwarts
Lily and James are married
Voldemort's still here
And in the course of one night
What were once five friends
is now one
3 friends dead
(lily james peter)
1 friend imprisoned
how could he?
how could he?
weren't you friends?)
And then there's you
for some reason
you thought you would be the first to go
Maybe its because you're a
or because the others
(well, maybe not Peter)
Well, except for Harry
just like James
(but he has Lily's eyes)
the only hope
for a man with no hope left
Grandmother's FriendMr. Weasley. Ms. Potter, cried their charms professor. Report to the Headmistresses office immediately!
Both first years picked up their bags and rushed out of the classroom. I cant believe you actually did that, Hugo, said Lily Potter as she laughed.
I cant believe you laughed, retorted her cousin, Hugo Weasley.
The class had been asked to practice the Levitation Charm. Hugo had decided to levitate the professors seat as she was about to sit down. Lily had seen what had happened and laughed. The professor thought she was the mastermind and had sent them both on their way.
Lily pulled her red hair back into a pony tail from the hair band on her wrist. She looked over at her cousin who was trying to flatten his curly brown hair. She stopped walking and turned toward him.
Stop that, she said.
He looked at her, Stop what?
She tried to fix his hair the best she could. Stop trying to flatten it.
This Girl"Bet I can beat you to the tree!"
"What? No way!" Lily smirked at my twin brother, Lorcan. "I bet you my Cornelius Agrippa chocolate frog card that I'll get there before you "
Lorcan's eyes bugged out. My brother is a bit of a freak when it comes to those trading cards. He's spent all of his money and my money, trying to obtain that one glorious card, ending up with a huge pile of throw-aways. "Deal!"
"IF!" Lily smiled a devilish smile. "If you lose, you'll have to buy me anything I want off of the candy cart for all my seven years at Hogwarts."
Lily turned to me, tying her long red hair up in a ponytail. "Lysander, can you go down to the tree and tell us who wins?"
I nodded, and shuffled over to the large oak tree on the other side of the Potter's backyard. "Alright, um READY!" Both got into their start positions. "SET! GO!"
Lorcan and Lily took off, running straight at me. Lily pulled a little ahead of my brother, which got him riled up. Knowing my brother he wasn'
How to Get to Potions ClassLily stared down at the schedule in her hands, her books slung in her bag over her shoulder. She was looking for Potions class and the room seemed to be avoiding her. "Okay. I need to take this staircase..." She muttered quietly as she walked through the halls. She took a deep breath before stepping onto the stairs which promptly decided to move. She clenched her fists and let out a frustrated sound that was a mix between a groan and a scream and a sort of cawing noise that a crow might make. Lily held onto the railing for a moment before moving back down and looking around.
"You lost, sis?" She looked up and saw James and Albus with a couple of their friends walking by.
"Oh, thank Merlin. James, please. How do I get to potions? I'm going to be late." Lily explained, offering him her schedule. He turned to Albus and laughed before he took her schedule and glanced at it.
"Well, you see. You are going to have to figure it out." James said with a laugh before walking past again, dropping
Real LifeOnce upon a time,
in a land far away,
a beautiful princess was born.
She had sky blue eyes
and golden hair
This isn't a fairytale!
this is life
And a girl was born
but she's not some fairytale princess
all green flashing eyes
and fire red hair
she jumped into life
and mouth open
-time goes by-
It's her 13th birthday
she shines like the sun
in pink chiffon & lace
haven't we gone over this?
life's not a fairytale!
not even close
It's her 13th birthday
but she glows like fire
in a t-shirt & jeans
and she couldn't be happier
-she grows older-
She whirls around
golden curls radiant
against the white ball gown
as she twirls
with her dashing Prince Charming
not even close, this time
because the boy our fireball dances with
isn't any Prince Charming
he's just a boy
trying to outlive
his family's legacy
with the d-r-e-a-m-s
of a new generation
in his eyes
All Here For A ReasonI turned onto a shady, well-manicured driveway that, for all intents and purposes, looked harmless enough. Maple trees lined both sides of the street, and a parade of Canadian geese marched across the road to a wide duck pond with a flamboyant fountain. There were blooming crepe myrtles and rose-of-sharons, and as I grew closer to my destination, neatly trimmed gardens with neatly trimmed bushes.
I stopped to let the geese pass. They looked at me; one hissed. I honked my horn and moved around them.
At the end of the road sat a collection of grayish buildings and a number of signs directing me to the appropriate parking lot. "Welcome to Ten Creeks Hospital," said one of them. "Please enjoy your stay." I parked in the visitor's lot. Surely I wouldn't be staying.
I was shaking when I got out of my car. I had spent the morning getting high. One foot in front of the other, flip-flop noises, hot sidewalk. Mulberry and magnolia trees, freshly shaved grass. A bench and pan for smokers. A set o
